THE PROBLEM

Mental healthcare is crucial in a well-rounded healthcare system, but often doesn't get the attention it deserves because it is difficult to access. This is especially true for people living with lower income.

WIREFRAMING

The first step was to create digital wireframes using the gathered data from the research phase. The research data also helped me create a first draft of the onboarding user flow.

DIGITAL WIREFRAMES

Test the wireframe

A usability study was conducted to test whether the designed user flow and layout successfully helped users complete two main tasks: "Get started" and “Select and book a therapist”.

Five adults ranging from the ages: 18-70 years old volunteered to share their honest insights into their in-depth experiences regarding the low-fidelity prototype of happimind.

PAIN POINTS DISCOVERED

BEFORE & AFTER

Next, I made improvements on the wireframe aiming to solve the discovered pain points found from the usability study.

The onboarding process has been simplified to a layout that directly prompts new users to sign up and returning users to login.

Pre-selected options have been omitted and solely relies on the user's actions when making important decisions.

The new user flow prompts the user to set up an appointment with their newly matched provider to encourage their mental health journey.

Mockups

With a solid blueprint the wireframes provided, I finalized the product to adding branding, color, and imagery.

ACCESSIBLE CARE

Let's go back a couple steps and look back. During the research phase, many interviewees have shared that, while they wish to receive mental health care, most online therapy companies charge their services at an unaffordable rate.

I began to ask myself, "what would it look like to provide flexible pricing and mental health plans for those who cannot afford it?" The following user flow explores my solution to providing flexible financial options called: financial aid.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Testers shared that this mental healthcare service is something they could actually see using in their lives. They shared that the product overall is easy to read, understand, and to use.

This project pushed me further to learn about utilizing grids and columns to maintain a clean and uniform layout.

This case study means so much to me as I passionately believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to receive quality mental health care. I'm encouraged by the amount of awareness that has been raised so far, and am excited to see more positive change in the future.
