Iterative Process
Given the product’s complexity and the wide range of users it needed to serve, we followed an iterative design approach. This allowed us to explore ideas, test possibilities, and refine features so that patients, providers, and staff each received solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Establishing Key Features & The Main User Flow
We prioritized the first key features that our users needed most: appointment management & completing check-in measures.
Wireframing
Even as the main user flows were still being defined, I began wireframing to help the team visualize early concepts and align on the core features. I started with the patient experience to establish a strong foundation, then expanded into the provider and staff workflows to ensure consistency and cohesion across all user groups.
Mockups
To help stakeholders better envision the mobile app, I developed high-fidelity mockups and lightweight prototypes that brought the user experience to life. These assets allowed the team to internally test the designs with staff, providers, and selected patients, enabling faster alignment and more informed decision-making.
Additionally, I created a comprehensive component library to give the engineering team a strong foundation and accelerate the development process.
Final Thoughts
This project is especially meaningful to me. It gave me the opportunity to partner closely with iTrust Insights over an extended period—long enough to experience the real highs and lows of building a product. I’m grateful for the trust the team placed in me, creating space to explore new ideas without fear of failure.
As someone who deeply believes mental health care should be accessible to everyone, I’m proud to have contributed to this work. I’m excited for its upcoming launch and look forward to seeing how iTrust Insights brings this product to life.
